If you saw Jesus Camp and were generally creeped out by the Rev. Ted Haggard in Colorado Springs, this might be of interest. Hard not to come off creepy sometimes whene you're living a whopper of a lie.

UPDATE: Ross Parsley the acting senior pastor has issued an email to congregation members stating the following: "It is important for you to know that he [Haggard] confessed to the overseers that some of the accusations against him are true.”

Hold on hold on. I don't love Jesus Campt or Haggard or anything like that, but these are allegations, no? I find it a little bit odd that the guy would come out NOW, when Haggard's at a particular high in exposure, even though he claims that Haggard's been paying for sex for three years, right? And he says he's mad that Haggard preaches against same-sex marriage...that's probably not new, right?

Anyway, I don't love him or anything, but I think it might be a little early for us to convict him of meth blowing and dude-fucking.

look, i'm not just trying to post nasty stories about someone i don't like, and I'm certainly not going around calling people gay.

I learned about this yesterday and assumed it was just hot air aorund the election. then he resigned, and then he admitted having the affair after saved voicemails were made public. that's when i posted it. i supose i should have been more specific about all that, i guess i assumed people could follow those links for themselves or assume that i wasn't posting rumors about people's sexuality.

As for the timing, colorado has gay marriage on the ballot this year, and that's why the guy came forward. Haggard had been preaching about it for a while but it wasn't a local political issue earlier. yes it was a politically timed deal, but the right made gay marriage a political issue, so a political response seems reasonable to me.

i feel sorry for Haggard, he's obviously lived a pretty shitty life for a while now, and i hope that he can move forward with his life in a positive way and maybe even stand up for gay people in time. I felt bad posting it in a way, because i don't want him to get slammed for being gay or having homo-tendencies.

But when you are so public about discriminating against people and something like this comes up, the public has the right to know that there was something else going on that whole time.

That's true. I didn't know that he had admitted it. I read the article you posted, and that was it. I was responding mostly to jeaner who sounded very sure that the whole thing was real.

I also think that jeanne was responding to the general feeling of hipocracy and falsehood that seems to be found all over the place in the extreme right. Even if he isn't gay, he's already admitted to some of the allegations...clearly he is not the saint he portrays himself to be and that he verbally abuses others into being.

Again, at the time I posted that I had not read that he'd admitted to anything. I apologize if I insulted anyone, it just sounded like people were convinced before anything had been confirmed. Clearly I was wrong.

dan, it's cool, I was just supporting Jeanne's point. I certainly wasn't insulted. Though I was starting to wonder if maybe you were just trying to support your fellow clergy member...since you are now officially a man of the cloth. You do know that there is a secret hand shake right?

80% of all massages result in a sexual encounter.
